The Flint Hills Beef Fest
Aug. 20-22, 2010, in Emporia, KS

Founded in 1986 the Flint Hills Beef Fest is an annual celebration
of the grass cattle industry for which the Flint Hills
region of Kansas is known.  

On Monday April 26, 2010, 108 heifers and 111 steers were weighed in to comprise 36 pens of heifers and 37 pens of steers. Unshrunk weights heading out to grass averaged 559 lb. for the heifers and 610 lb. for the steers.
The cattle are due to come off grass Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010.

The annual celebration recognizing the beef producers who participate in the Flint Hills Beef Fest is scheduled for Sat., Aug. 21, 2010, at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The Awards Banquet will kick off the evening's activities and will follow with a steak dinner, entertainment by Comedian John Wesley Austin and a dance featuring the Jared Daniels Band.
