It's all about the beef.

The tall grass prairie of the Flint Hills is where the Flint Hills Beef Fest begins. Cattle are grazed from April through August in a weight gain competition at the Highland Ranch near Emporia, KS. Cattlemen from across the country enter pens of three steers and/or heifers in a variety of different contests, including:
Grass Futurity
Live Stocker Cattle Show 
Feedlot Contest
Carcass Competition

Prizes total nearly $15,000.

Pre-entries are being accepted now for the 2010 event.
 
 
  • To help guarantee your spot in the Beef Fest Cattle Contests,
    pre-enter your cattle by April 9, 2010.
  • Cattle will be received April 24, 2010, at Emporia Livestock Sales, Emporia, KS,
    from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Entries will be capped at 40 pens of steers and 40 pens of heifers.
  • Entries will be accepted on a first paid, first come, first served basis.
