It's all about the beef.

The tall grass prairie of the Flint Hills is where the Flint Hills Beef Fest begins. Cattle are grazed 90 days beginning the end of April in a weight gain competition in heart of the Flint Hills near Emporia, KS. Cattlemen from across the country enter pens of three steers and/or heifers in a variety of different contests, including:
Grass Futurity
Live Stocker Cattle Show 
Feedlot Contest
Carcass Competition
Best Overall Gain

Prizes total more than $15,000.

Pre-entries are being accepted now for the 2015 event.
  • To help guarantee your spot in the Beef Fest Cattle Contests,
    pre-enter your cattle by April 17.
  • Cattle will be received April 25, 2015, at Emporia Livestock Sales, Emporia, KS,
    from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Entries will be capped at 40 pens of steers and 40 pens of heifers.
  • Entries will be accepted on a first paid, first come, first served basis.
